Revenue Recognition Functionality

Dear SAP Friends,

I am amidst in a project of implementing Revenue Recognition function on Time Related Revenue Recognition basis...The client are presently in 4.6B...As per SAP there are around 5 User Exits to be applied in case of 4.6B and not very sure still 4.6B can deliver this entire functionality...Client is planning for a technical upgrade to Ver 5 and would like to know how this functionality would be best handled in the new version without any complexity...Basically they want a pros and cons of this Rev Rec functionality in 4.6B vs Ver 5.

When I went through help.sap.com, there is no much difference in the documentation for 4.6B and Ver 5...Can anyone provide some valuable inputs on this?

HI Guys

I have come across a issue regarding revenue recognition. and i have seen the same issue running around in this forum. so if anyone worked on revenue recognition do let me know how to proceed. This is my issue. i need to run the revenue recognition in t.code VF44. when i run this t.code it says no list generated. and i tired to configure in sd> basic functions>account assignment/costing>revenue recognition>set revenue recongition for item category. so in this screen even if i am trying to make new entries the fields are greyed out. can anyone tell me what is the reason. am i supposed to do anyother configuration or run any program for this?its urgent, please reply.

Dear Harish,

Good morning and greetings,

The configuration which you are trying to make is the correct. Kindly check with your BASIS for your authorisation on SD objects. In the Business Data TAB of Item Category you will have to specify the Revenue Recognition method as A,B,C etc depending on Time Related or Service Related and you will have to specify proposed date for accrual period depending on milestone billing or periodic billing of the contract.
