Hi All,

Is there a way to set a default printer by user or by transaction?

Please advise.

Dear Suren,

In T-code 'SPAD' select your printer then go to 'Access Method' tab then in Host Spool Access Method , select Printing on Front End Computer . Then in next field Host printer , just give ' __DEFAULT ' (2 times underscore)

that't it..

Dear John,

First of all there is no need to do it via transaction SPAD. SAP comes with an already default printer configuration and that you can check in transaction SPAD .

Now if you want to set default printer for user proceed as follows.

Goto transaction SU01. Give user name> change and display>click default and then under spool control give the name of default SAP printer LP01(in output device) and select check box output immediately. Save and back.

Now goto user system> control pannel> printers> and select any printer as default(take the help of network guys)> I mean to say whatever default printer is set as default at OS level all SAP printout will go on that printer only.

This will surely work.

Hi Suren,

Just adding to Renjith.

If you want this to be the default printer then assign this printer to the user in t-code su01.(default setting).
