Hi experts,

Can some one please throw some light on parallel payroll testing. I am looking out for advantages and disadvantages of doing it.

We do not have any plans to do parallel payroll testing as the production system is loaded with lot of interfaces and the other system runs out of live data. please throw some general pros and cons to avoid doing this.

Regards,

Aries.

Every element should go through Unit Testing during the configuration phase, all processes can be tested during the Integration Testing phase, but the "TRUE TEST" will always be the Parallel Testing, where actual users try to replicate in the new environment what they did in the legacy system and compare the results (effort required, time required per process, acuracy of the outputs, etc.).

Advantages? #1...you have one run as your "control" (ie. it worked before) to measure/gauge/compare your "new" run with....they should match up....meaning "success!!!!!".

Disadvantages? Really?!?!? You "run with scissors"....your "new" run has issues/problems.....no one gets paid correctly....you don't find out till weeks later because you had nothing to really compare against.....and that is just the START!

Good stuff and one of the big disadvantages you missed as the customer realizing VERY quickly their "consultants" had no clue what they were doing 🙂

Depending on how quickly they realize it, that could actually be an advantage as well. hahahaha

If they are reading this post potentially they could find out even before go-live 🙂

Get ready for a disaster if you dont. Parallel testing is THE most important testing cycle for a new SAP Payroll implementation. I cant imagine your "consultants" advising you not to do this and if you happen to be the consultant than the customer should get some new guidance.

Just my two cents and I would listen to this as well.
