Can anyone tell me where I can find a list of the object types used in HR , example: S - Position, P - Person, O - Org Unit etc.

You can view from t-code se16 or sm30 with table name T778O.

Hope you got access to an SAP system since you posted. You can view them in Table T778O, and click the "Search" icon in "OTYPE", but each system varies. One system I looked in had 173 object types, while another had over 200. It just depends which system you are in.
