we define mrp controller in the material master. i understand that he is responsible for material planning for that material.

what does that exactly mean, is he responsible for the changes that take place in mrp and to what areas he is responsible for.

what exactly is the role of mrp controller.

Hi

MRP controller is responsible for total planning for the material.

Generally each MRP controller will have set of materials under his control. He will take full responsibility of planning, replenishment, planned orders firming etc of those materials.

But in project this field is used for other grouping of materials purposes.

Hi Jaya,

MRP Controller is the personson responsible for the planning of the material.

The MRP controller may be repsposible for total plant or group of materials etc. Hence a Plant can have many MRP Controllers.

Hi jaya

In general MRP controller will be PPC head. He is responsible for the entire inhouse production. In some companies for sub contract and also for external procurement. It depends on the volume of operation.

He only know the criticality of the materials procured and produces.

Mail can be linked to MRP controller on Missiing parts after availability check. Also Alternate material as per BOM will be know to him and he can change Material issued GI inspite of reservation to other materials.

Jaya,

He is responsible for Planning of material which are assigned to him. He is also the authorised person to change MRP suggested quantities and dates for an MRP element.
