moving SLDModel.SLDData database

Dear all,

we need to move all SAP B1 databases (company DBs, coresuite, SBO-COMMON, etc...) on another SQL Server instance.

It seems easy for these databases, but we don't know the steps to follow to move the "SLDModel.SLDData" database.

What is the SLDModel.SLDData database?

Should we turn-off the SAP B1 SLD Service?

After restoring the SLDModel.SLDData database on the new instance, how can we configure the service to point to the new instance?

Please, can someone help us?

Hi Emanuele,

Johan is correct with his suggestions of doing a full installation on the new server and applying for a new license.

With the SLD database, you'll find that when you install the server tools (inc. SLD ) on the new server, you will HAVE to create a new SLD database. If you have enabled Windows single sign-on, it's necessary to keep the old SLD datbase and after the new instllation, copy the user mappingsto the new database; if you do not use this function, it should be OK to use the new SLD database.

BTW, the lincese information is still mnaged by the license service.

Dear all,

I don't need to change the server.

I just created a new SQL server named instance,

and I need to move all SAP B1 databases (companies, sbo-common, SLDModel.SLDData, etc.) from standard SQL instance to the new SQL named instance.

I need to know if it's possible to change the license server (or server tools) configuration to point to the new sql server named instance  instead of  the old standard sql instance.

Can I change the SQL Server connection in a Windows registry key or in a SAP configuration file?

I would like NOT to unistall and reinstall SAP B1 server tools just to change a sql connection.

Hi Emanuele,

Unfortunately, ASAIK, this is not possible. You'll have to install the server tools again but you probably don't need to apply for a new license as long as the hardware key remains the same.

There is no such database in the basic B1 system landscape, so I take it this database belongs to your Coresuite installation ?

If so, please contact your Coresuite support partner.

Otherwise, generally speaking when migrating your system to a new / another MS SQL Server instance, it is always best to do a full clean install on the new system, and then simply restore backups of all databases involved.

Hi Emanuele,

Ok, I suppose that is new in version 9 and up then.

Anyway,in that case just like SBO-COMMON, this database should be created new when you perform the clean install on the new server / SQL instance.

You may have to request a new license file from your SAP partner, or you can obtain one from the SAP Service Marketplace.
