Material type

Dear All,

for a particular material which is already created through material type FERT, can we change the material type to HALB for the same material.if so,then how and what are the points needed to consider for such process?

Please use transaction MMAM / SAPMM03Z in SE38..But first of all you've to check if it is possible to change The material type .

Material type cannot be changed. If :

1.Purchase orders exist .

2.The material is already used in BOM items whose item category defines quantity-based inventory management. However, quantity-based inventory management is not defined by the new material type.

3.Production orders exist for the material. This is not allowed if only external procurement is defined for the new material type, or if the new material type has a different account category reference than the old material type.

4.Stock is already exist for the material

use split valuation for the mat for 2 diff mat type.

for fert it goes to one account and and other mat type it goes to other gl a/c. Since the master data is same split valuation will be an option.

check t code MMAM for the material type change

or MMZ2 for material type and industry sector

for changing the material type the attributes of both the mat type should be same

like val class ,

Hai,

You can do the Transaction MMAM - Material type changes but you have to consider the following

the material dosenot conatain any open purchase requisitions, open reservations & open purchase orders. Also material stock should be zero.

Remember the new material type should have same attributes same as old material type.
