hi,

can anyone guide me.

my question is dat

1) where can we maintain number ranges for material type and in which business scenario we normally use it.please explain me with an example.

Hi,

Use MMNR transaction to create number ranges for material types.This will be created against groups.

If you want to change the std. materilal type settings(OMS2) then you can use customized material types using Y or Z as prefix.

Example will be like this,

If you are copying FERT and prefix into ZERT and then you do not want Costing 1&2 views during material master creation,you can use this.

Like above there are somany instances depends on business requirement.

Hi,

Go to T.code OMS2,you can define material types.

Then define no.ranges for material types in the img path as follows,IMG-LOGISTICS GENERALMATERIAL MASTER

BASIC SETTINGS---MATERIAL TYPES---DEFINE NUMBER RANGES FOR EACH MATERIAL TYPE.

You can define number ranges here.
