Material Type Description is wrong

Hi guys,

We created some "service-materials" but I've noticed that we selected the wrong material type description.

Instead to use "DIEN", we used "NLAG".

1. What is the effect of this mistake?
2. How can I solve it? What's your suggestion?

It's all but impossible to tell all the ramifications of creating a material master with an incorrect type, as we don't know your settings of either NLAG and DIEN. In general, material type is very important and it needs to be correct in the material master.

You can use the MMAM transaction to change material types in already existing material master records.

The usage of materials with DIEN and NLAG material types are different in business. Check in case if both material types may be material views are same -you can change material type from NLAG to DIEN with MMAM t.code considering you do not have any open transactions and also check valuation with same account category reference for both, if any!

Else better set deletion flag to wrongly created materials with NLAG material type and create new service material for sales purpose with DIEN material type.
