Dear ,

Regarding Forcasting , You need to maintain following Fileds

1.Period Indicator -Monthly or Weekly Forcast .The period indicator determines the time interval the system is to use to store consumption or forecast values.

2.Fiscal year variant

3.Model Selection : Automatic or Manual .In your case if you decide that Forcast Model is Weighetd Average , then keep the Model Selection Manual .

4.Historical Values : 1-12 months .The default value in this case is the maximum number possible (60). If fewer values are available, then they are used for initialization.

5.Period Forcast : The number of forecast periods, you specify for how many periods the system determines forecast values

6.Initialization periods : You specify the number of periods the system is to use for model initialization here. If the number of historical values is greater than the number of initialization periods, then the system will carry out an ex-post forecast for those periods which were not used for initialization

7.Model Initialisation Parameters :

1.Initialisation : Automatic .You should have mini 1 historical values to trigger the Model Initilisation automatic .Model initialization can either be carried out automatically (X) or manually (M). In the case of manual initialization (which should be the exception), you must determine the model parameters manually. To do this, select Details Forecast details Model parameters. Depending on the forecast model, you can manually maintain such parameters as the basic value and the trend in the pop-up window. If you do not set these parameters here, you will be requested to set them during the forecast. No historical data has to be stored in the system in order to carry out manual initialization

2.Tracking limit : During the forecast calculation, the system compares the tracking limit with the quotient of the error total and the mean absolute deviation (MAD). This quotient is known as the tracking signal. If the value calculated by the system lies below that of the tracking limit, then the forecast remains valid. If not, the system generates an exception message which indicates that a structural interruption has taken place. This means that the forecast model should be revised and possibly re-initialized.

3.Autom. reset : Causes the system to reset the forecast model automatically if the tracking limit is exceeded. Furthermore, the system carries out a new model selection during the next forecast.

4.Correction factors : If you fill in this field, historical values and forecast values are weighted with the appropriate period factors which you determined via customizing.

8.Smoothing Factor : For weighetd average model , there will not be any Smoothing Factor -Alpha , Beta ,Delta m Gama required rather it needs a Weighet Group in the Forecasting view .Sytem will pop up that messages what are the actual smoothing factor applicable upon selection of the model.

9.In MRP3 view you should keep the Service level percentage to calcualte the Safety Stock based on the forcast execution and MAD,Basic Values. It also depends the MRP Type -VM/V1/V2 .MRP type controls the automatic calculation of safety stock .

Hope this will give u an idea on Forcasting .

Hi,

Not in front of system, working from memory here... the below fields are relevant:

Forecast Model, History & Forecast Periods, Weighting group, Delta Factor, Period indicator & Consumption Values.

Hope the above helps.

What is a generally good Forecasting approach?? Should Forecasts be based on Demand History or on Consumption history?? There is Material Forecasting available, where you enter consumption history in the system & then there is Forecasting via Flex Planning.

What consumption numbers does the Material Forecasting use - is it all or consumption to Sales Orders?

Cheers
