Hello,
I am quite new to SAP and the company I work for, bought the Bussiness One packet for ERP and E-commerce.
For E-commerce, we don't want to built a web server in our premises, so we are searching for an external hosting. Our dealers told us that it is required to run setup.exe (the installation for the e-commerce) at the Server that will host our site. Every hoster is asking me if this setup.exe is safe and it does not introduce any vulnearability because in the same server other domains are hosted (it is not a dedicated server).
Out dealers cannot answer that question!!!
Could you please help me to find an official answer from SAP that there is no security hazard installing this application?
If there is not such a document is it compulsory to run the application at the web server or is there any other way to do it?
Thanks
Vassilis

Hello,
Thanks a lot for your answer. The solution we are working at the moment is via VPS (Virtual Private Server). It seems that this is the best idea for small bussinesses that want a quick and cheap hosting solution.

You really do need a dedicated web server ... that's the way it should be installed. While it may be possible to manually copy the website files and link everything together manually I wouldn't recommend it and I'm weary of even saying it's remotely possible because of the complications you will probably run into down the road.
There is also a service that's installed and runs on the webserver to send your website emails so that ongoing service may be a big no-no in a shared hosting environment.
