Different Material type for same material.

Hi All Guru,

How a same material no having HALB and FERT and different material type can be handled in SAP.

for example:

two plants belongs to same company and a certain material is FERT for one plant and HALB for another plant

1)so how this can be addressed?

2) and what things needs to be done or considered for changing material type and also before changing (inventory releated)

Its not possible tha one matcode having 2 diffrent materil types..

The material type should be unique for all the plants in single company code..

For changing material type..

The validations are..

1.Pl delete all the pending GRN's,PO,PR's..

2.Pl perform material to material stock transfer using MB1B/309

3.After all i dont think it will effect for account assignments..

Use transaction MMAM

Menu: - Logistics > Material Management > Material Master > Material > Change Material Type..

Hi,

Due to the scenario in the same client, thinking of the consistency of master data, you should set the material type according to selling process, for example:

• If the material is used to do internal sale between two plants, the second plant uses the part to produce the ultimate product, then you can set the material type as HALB;

• If the material is used to do internal and external sale in two plants, you should set the material type as FERT.

Material type is only one feature of materials, normally you can sell the HALB and FERT at the same time, so from my point of view you can handle this case in SAP system.

material number is at cleint level so u can not have same material with dif. material type in SAP

yes, I understand this

but there is requirement that one plant is manufacturing the FERT component "A" and selling it in the market,but for other plant the same material "A" is raw material OR semi finished material.

Pl let me if anybody is having soln for this,

Your case is a Normal business scenario,

I know one company which produces Cement as well as constructs buildings..

for one plant Cement is Finished product & for other plant it's Raw Material..

for the above cases , as i told you earlier

You need to create a New Z* Material type having the Views & fields related to both FERT & HALB mat types..

So that It can fulfill the requirements for both the plants...
