Different Customization options in evaluation vs. implementation projects ?

According to the documentation for the partner TDD instance we have set up the respective CBC workspaces/projects as "evaluation"-type projects. When we start to get into customization, we see that cross modules there are different behaviors in terms of customization flexibility. By example a SD order type CANNOT be copied to a customer specific order type, but in FI a document type CAN be copied to a customer specific document type.

Our uncertainty is, if this behavior has something to do with the project type chosen (evaluation vs. implementation) for the respective CBC workspace ? Would an implementation project allow to copy and maintain more customization settings then an evaluation project ? And if yes, is there a kind of register that lists the customization topics that are inflexible in evaluation projects vs. that are flexible in implementation projects ?

Hello @DanielBlum1

For the example you mentioned (copying SD order types versus FI document types), the behaviour is the same in both evaluation and implementation projects.

The difference is not related to project type but to SAP’s configuration governance in S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. Some objects, like FI document types, can be copied and adjusted by customers. Others, like SD order types, are locked by design to maintain standardisation across tenants.

So even if you shift from evaluation to implementation, you will not obtain extra flexibility in these areas. The available configuration options remain the same.

You can refer to the below useful SAP Documentations

With kind regards

Dear Daniel,

The specific example you gave in your question  is same for Dev and Implementation Projects.

The behaviour is same for the case mentioned in Dev and Implementation.
