Difference between characteristic and classification

Hello,

could somebody please explain me the difference between the classification view (MM03->Classification) and Characteristic values view (MM03->MRP3->Configure Variant)

I have to extract datas from both views but i don't get the difference.

Hi,

Classfication view in material master record, when the material belong to material class and the classification view includes Characteristics and Class that are relevant to the material.

The classification system allows you to use characteristics to describe all types of objects, and to group similar objects in classes u2013 to classify objects, in other words, so that you can find them more easily later.

Characteristics Value View in MM02>MRP3>Configure Variant this is relevant to configurable material which is plant specific only.
