HI Gurus,

What is cycle counting?.If i activate cycle counting does the material get blocked automatically?

Hi

Cycle counting is a method of physical inventory whereby inventory is counted at regular intervals within a fiscal year. These intervals depend on the cycle counting indicator set for the material (see view "Plant data/storage 1", field : CC Physical Inventory Indicator)

The indicator can be set manually or automatically using report RMCBIN00, and the cycle counting indicator will be calculated based on consumption history in material master or requiremen with combination of consumption or requirement percentage.

The system can purpose to us to do the Physical Inventory proses based on CC Indicator by running report RM07ICN1

And weather it will be automatically block the inventory transaction of freeze the Inventory value, it will be based on parameter we set when running report RM07ICN1

Cycle counting is a part of Physical Inventory monitoring at plant level

in stead of having annual physical inventory, what we can do is, based on the A B C class of the material we can define how many physical inventory count we would like to have as per the material class during the year.

This will help to understand what is the variance between physical stock V/s SAP R/3 stock

some one can take an ownership and monitor the material movement precisely if expected achievement to have min invenotry variance

POsting the variance after the cycle count is discretionary, but buyer / store person will know the variance and they will monitor the stock position to have min inventory cost

As per Domin, it is advisible to have cycle count for A class every month and B class every Qrter item and C class half yearly.
