Creating custom reports

Hi;

I was wondering what companies out there are doing to create custom reports. Many times we can't find existing CDS views/Analytical queries that have the data we need. When we try to create custom CDS Views or queries by joining existing ones, we still are missing data we know are in the standard tables. Just curious what others are doing.

Hi George,

We're creating custom analytical queries, SAC stories, CDS views and pulling by API (where we can this is limited), or taking the existing reports and dumping to excel and adding the additional mapping or details. Unfortunately with large data sets we have to do this anyway since SAP reporting struggles with more than 10,000 rows of data and we need to combine all of the extracts.

I also find that the native reports struggle with large data sets. In extracting data from the Goods Movement Analysis report, for example, we have to do it in two-month increments or else it hangs. I wonder if this is common for all cloud-based ERPs being that they obviously depend on available Internet bandwidth between the client and server.

Hi George,

Unfortunately, we do not have a way forward to tackle this if the CDS view/API that you're looking for are not white listed, then they are not available for consumption.

You can find the list of all CDS view available w.r.t LoB in the api.sap.com. Login with your S user and select S4HANA Cloud and click View More will navigate you to the available CDS views.

You also have the option to raise an impediment request through our Influence portal by highlighting the business use case and priority.
