Barcode scanner addon

Hi All,

Could you provide me the info about the company (SAP B1 partner) that have barcode scanner addon ? The addon must fulfill the SAP notes : 945906.

Barcode Reader (Scanner) cannot read barcodes from documents
Symptom
The barcode printed on a document (invoice, order, delivery, etc) is being read with your Barcode Reader, but it is not generating any numbers.
This is not an issue with Business One.
An AddOn is required in order to read the barcode.
An Addon is not required to print barcodes in Business One.

READING BARCODES:
A third party AddOn is required to enable Barcode Readers to work with
barcodes.
Barcode Readers are only taken care of via an AddOn - as the only thing
the Barcode Reader needs is an interface. Several partners have
developed solutions for this.
If you do not have an AddOn for the Barcode Reader, we recommend that
you do either of the following:
1) login to the SAP Developer Network Forum at https://www.sdn.sap.com
and post a request for a Barcode Reader AddOn
OR
2) contact your LPE for further information
PRINTING BARCODES:
An Addon is not required for printing Barcodes in Business One.
Please refer to the Online Help in order to find out which types of
Barcodes are supported when printing Barcodes in B1.

I dont know why you need addon for this, we are using barcode readers and printing barcodes on documents normaly without any comunication addon. The barcode readers are standard readers, which emulates keyboard pressing and after scan of barcode are emulated numbers inside the barcode. On document we print the barcodes with special font (we are using EAN128 only) and it works.

The only thing you could need addon are special barcodes which must be calculated and cannot be converted 1 to 1 with some graphics font. Is this your case?

That's interesting. Our user also said that.

However user said that they use barcode scanner on the A/R invoice + payment and the system directly add the document after barcode scanner sent the code. It will make the second item will not receive the code from barcode scanner. So, how to block this automatic enter that made the system directly add the document.

Do you experience this same thing ?

Yes, its easy and it depend on scanner. The scanners we are using are programmaticaly and the package include some printed programmeers manual where are programming codes printed as barcodes - for example: send enter at the end, send tab at the end, send only numeric values, ... - its about 30 codes. When you scan it with scanner, the scanner will change internal logic and will not sedn enter at the end.

I think I have been hit by booby trap that sent by the customer.

However, I will propose to them that it is not SAP B1 issue but prior to that, it is better to ask them use the addon. I am not sure if in the future there will be changing in the barcode type and also like what you said in your previous answer happened.

Hello Jimmy,

Depending on the scanner you use and which logic it has will determine if it will add the document at the end of the scan. A workaround which some companies use is to delete the date from the document before scanning, that way you can ensure that the document does not get added by mistake.

Guys, in these replies everybody forgot to mention the Channel Partner who provide the Barcode Add On. Please let us know which Add On for barcode is available in the market for SAP Business One 2007B.
