Attachments Folder Compressed automatically

Hi Experts,

One of our customers says there is a process running automatically that compresses the Attachments folder periodically. The problem is that it compresses and includes the previous compressed files, which means it grows exponentially.

We are not aware of a SAP process to do that. There are no schedule processes in Windows or in the Backup software they use. Any suggestions?. Where can we find such a process please?

Thanks for prompt answer,

Andres

Hi Andres,

What is the OS for the Attachments Folder? Is this only happened to this specific folder?

Thanks,

Gordon

Hi Gordon,

They are running Win Server 2003. They haven't identified any other folders with this issue. They realized it was happening when they noticed the media for the daily backup wasn't big enough. They moved the .rar files to a different folder and new ones have been generated (smaller, though).

The action They moved the .rar files to a different folder would cause something like this. It is better to move some original old files to different location instead of moving comprised file.

Thanks again Gordon,

Let me be more specific, and I apologize for not explaining myself. What we need to know is if there is a SAP-based process that compresses the Attachments folder, or if that is something done externally. As mentioned, we are not aware of such a process within SBO, we believe is something managed externally. Do you agree?

That is what I mean. There is no such process within B1that compresses the Attachments folder.

Hi.

I agree with both of you. That behavior could be caused by using an external tool like third party backup tools, thouse tools could compress files and directories in several formats (like .rar). I think the tool was incorreclty configured, setting the location of the backup file inside the same folder that is being backed up.

I hope this helps.

Hi All,

I'm still looking for an option. Apparently the SBOBackup is generating the compressed file in the Attachments folder, based on a reserach I made on PartnerEdge. Have you seen this issue before?

Thanks, Andres

If you are using a SQL back up process other than the SAP back ups, I would suggest turing the SAP process off as it is not very good at handling large volumes and does need folders cleaned out frequently
