In Plant FR30, currently there are two components which have the Base unit of measure = KM and are managed in MM in the Bill of materials component.

While checking the consistency of the data in the app “Display MRP Master Data Issues” the message “Unit of measure MM in KM cannot be converted” appears.

All the Standard configurations exists for the UOMs (KM , M and MM) and the conversion are fine as well.

Please let us know how to resolve this issue and let us know the impact of this message if not resolved.

Hello!

This message from Display MRP Master Data issues points to a mismatch at the material master level.  

The global conversion table (Define Units of Measurement) defines how KM, M, and MM convert to each other in general, but for MRP/BOM purposes the system also needs the specific alternative unit of measure entry on the material master of each component. If MM isn't explicitly maintained as an alternative unit of measure on that component's material master (with a valid conversion factor to its base unit KM), the system can't resolve the BOM item's unit (MM) against the component's own base unit.

A second, common cause with KM/MM pairing: the conversion ratio is 1 : 1,000,000. The numerator/denominator fields used for material-specific unit conversions have a limited number of digits (5 digits each as standard). A straight KM→MM factor can exceed what fits cleanly in those fields, which can also trigger "cannot be converted" even when the units themselves are configured correctly in principle.

 

Recommandation:

Open each of the two components in the Product Master app for plant FR30, go to Additional Data → Units of Measure and check whether MM is listed as an alternative unit of measure with a conversion factor to the base unit KM. If it's missing, add it. If the ratio doesn't fit due to the digit limitation, maintain the conversion via an intermediate unit (ensure M is properly defined as alternative unit with factor to KM, and MM with factor to M) rather than a single direct KM-MM connection.

Also check the BOM item itself, confirm the unit entered (MM) matches one of the material's maintained alternative units.
