Cross currency conversion in SAP Datasphere ?

Hi Everyone

We were migrating one report from SAP ECC system to sap sap s4hana then to SAP Datasphere via SAC , but the requirement is we want to do cross currency conversion . For an example if TCURR table don't have any exchange rate for some date and rates of the currency , then we have to convert the respective currency with any other intermediate currency and then convert to USD.

i.e. if we don't have direct exchange rate in TCURR table for JYP -> USD then JYP-> GBP   then GBP -> USD this conversion by using TCURL table.

But the challenge here is in Datasphere we don't have any such cross currency conversion function . Can the standard currency conversion take care such scenarios in datasphere ?

No. Not supported. Neither in DSP, nor in SAC. Request for improvement in SAC since 2021 :).

From my perspective, this makes sense (I used to have issues to explain to business why the conversion differs, when conversion was persisted, to actual conversion... The rate was added after the data was loaded...). Therefore it makes sense to me to have the exchange rate avl and not to cross-convert.

You have to apply work-arounds. Easiest is to get the missing rates from business. More complex is to add double steps (2 conversion, but... you have to know which). Most complex is do IF/ELSE - in the views check if the rate exists, else use two steps, but... this will make your views not readable. You can by-pass the IF/ELSE with transformation flow however.

I am not sure if it makes sense however. I would just ask business to provide rates for currency the company is dealing with. Cross-conversion is a work-around by default anyway.
