With Classic Joule Studio, developers had to manually put together and manage skills and agents inside SAP Build pretty hands-on and technical. The New Joule Studio flips that around: you just describe what you want in plain language, and it helps you build complete AI-powered solutions (agents, apps, and workflows) in a fully SAP-managed setup

Classic Joule Studio focuses on building Joule skills and agents through SAP Build. Developers are responsible for manually designing the business logic, workflows, integrations, and technical configurations.

The new Joule Studio, powered by the SAP Business AI platform, adopts an intent-to-outcome approach. Users can describe their business needs in natural language, and the platform helps translate them into structured outputs—such as intent analysis, a product requirements document (PRD), technical specifications, code, test cases, and deployment artifacts.

Little late to the 2nd week, but the one key difference I learned is the shift from manual configuration to intent-based development. Classic Joule Studio focuses on building and configuring skills and agents, while New Joule Studio starts with a business requirement in natural language and carries it through intent analysis, PRD, specification, code, testing, and deployment.

One key difference is that Classic Joule Studio is primarily focused on developers building custom Joule Skills and Agents, whereas the New Joule Studio introduces an AI-first, intent-based development experience. Users can describe their business goal in natural language, and Joule Studio can generate the required solution artifacts, workflows, code scaffolding, and test artifacts. It also supports both no-code and pro-code development with an SAP-managed runtime.

One of the key difference between Classic Joule Studio and New Joule Studio is:

New Joule Studio introduces an intent based development environment for creating and deploying AI agents, while the Classic Joule Studio focuses on building custom Joule Skills and agents through SAP build.

New Joule Studio is intent-driven. The user provides the business requirement in simple language, and the system automatically handles analysis, PRD generation, solution/code or workflow generation, testing, and deployment.

Classic Joule Studio is configuration-driven. The user needs to manually configure each step for analysis, requirements, development, testing, and deployment

The Classic Joule Studio uses a low-code environment to build custom skills and extend Joule's capabilities on SAP BTP.

The New Joule Studio features AI-first, intent-based development with natural language and native n8n workflows.

fdd3fce7-ca80-4437-bb49-ff46773053e3.jpgThe biggest difference I see is the shift from building individual Joule skills and agents in the Classic version to a much broader intent-based development experience in the New Joule Studio, where you can go from a business requirement to agents, apps, and workflows with more of the development process automated.

Classic Joule Studio was fully manual and a little slower. Now, with the new Joule Studio, it will have the capacity to automate most of the processes.

The difference between Classic joule studio and new Joule studio  is  - In Classic joule studio, we can create low code joule skills and agents  where as New Joule studio is intent based which allows the creation of Agents, workflows from design - Requirement Solution development - testing and deployment

New Joule Studio looks more promising and advanced than version 1.0.

  • Advanced capability to add workflows
  • Generate Business content , PRD and we can validate as well
  • Integration of N8n to create workflows
  • Capability to extend agents using Pro code tools

classic joule is based on SAP build with low code skill+ agent development. it is good to start with to get the concepts but doesn't have better governance. whereas New joulestudio 2.0 is intent based and on SAP business AI platform foundation which has whole agent/application life cycle built in from requirement to PRD to deployment. Mainly new joule studio is sap managed runtime unlike Classic which is customer managed. it also has better governance through AI Agent hub. (not sure if it will be backported to agents developed through classic joule!?).
New Joule Studio also has n8n integrated which simplifies the connectivity with SAP and non-SAP. Classic joule relies on destination configurations and APIs available in buildstore.

One of the big differences is that with New joule Studio you have more ways to connect your solutions (like using n8n)!

Joule Studio 2.0 takes Joule beyond traditional skill and agent creation by introducing AI-first, intent-based development. Instead of manually designing agents and workflows, developers can describe a business outcome in natural language and have the platform generate solution artifacts, orchestration, and implementation scaffolding automatically. This significantly accelerates development, simplifies multi-agent solutions, and improves developer productivity.

My understanding is that a key distinction between the two is that Classis Joule Studio is mainly focused on building and configuring Joule Skills and Agents, and New Joule Studio allows you to start by describing the business outcome you are after and let AI help design and build the solution you need. Also New Joule Studio has a wider scope wherein it has a fully managed environment for building, deploying and managing the full lifecycle of agents, applications and workflows.

Answer for the question:
Classic Joule Studio is primarily a low-code/no-code tool for building custom Joule Skills and Agents that extend the Joule copilot.

New Joule Studio is a broader AI-first development environment for building agents, applications, and workflows end-to-end, including intent-based development where user describe a business requirement in natural language and the platform generates solution artifacts, code scaffolding, and workflows.
