This is part of the August Developer Challenge on Joule Studio.

Now that you have a background in SAP Joule, we come to the part everyone is waiting for:  New Joule Studio. SAP Joule Studio is SAP’s AI-first development environment for building custom AI agents, apps, and workflows. Powered by the SAP Business AI Platform.

During this challenge, you will be taking up a course to build your foundational knowledge about the New Joule Studio, which was announced during Sapphire 2026 in May. 

Your Task

Step 2: On the top right corner, click on the User Icon to log on to SAP Learning with your SAP Universal ID and password. 

Click on “Start Learning” to begin the course.

Answer for the Question : 
The New Joule studio provides the intent based agent generation based on  the intent or prompt given by the user with respect to the business requirement. Based on the intent, There will be the steps as Business Intent Analysis , Bases on this a Product Requirement Document will be generates based on the Intent which acts as functional requirement document. Based on this and business requirement the solution will be generated whether it will be a code generation or workflow will be generated for the implementation with the IDE or n8n workflows. After that , the generated code will be tested , if its passed , it will be enabled to deploy the solution. 
Where as in classic Joule studio, It will require the configuration step up for each and every step for all the phases for analysis , functional document, Code generation , Test and deployment

For me the biggest shift is how much manual setup disappears.

In Classic Joule Studio, you're configuring every phase yourself analysis, functional doc, code, test, deployment, all separate steps you drive.

New Joule Studio flips that: you give it your business intent, it analyzes that intent, generates a PRD from it, then builds out the actual solution code or an n8n workflow  tests it, and gets it ready to deploy. Feels less like using a tool and more like directing one.

ONE key difference between the Classic Joule Studio and the New Joule Studio:

Classic Joule Studio builds agents/skills directly (you go straight to configuring the agent), while the New Joule Studio uses Intent-Based Development. You describe a problem in natural language, and it first generates a Product Requirements Document (PRD) that you iterate on before any agent, application, or code gets created.

Classic Joule Studio primarily focuses on creating Joule skills and agents through SAP Build, where developers manually define the business logic, workflows, integrations, and configurations.

New Joule Studio is built on the SAP Business AI Platform and introduces an intent-to-outcome development approach. Users can describe a business requirement in natural language, and the platform can generate business intent analysis, PRD, Specification, Code, testing and deployment

Another key difference is the openness of the platform. While Classic Joule Studio is mainly focused on building skills and agents within SAP Build, New Joule Studio supports a more model-agnostic and extensible approach, integrating external AI models and third-party tools to create more robust end-to-end solutions.

New Joule Studio looks more promising than version 1.0.

However, there are still a few open questions:

• How will it handle the custom processes that were developed within the Business process( Purchase Order flow)?
• What will the user interface look like?
• How will users access and use this application?

The Key differences from Classic to New version of Joule Studio is:

1. Improved developer Productivity - by introducing intent based development in the new version compared to the manual skill and agent building in the classic version.
2. PRD provisioning - Documentation for the entire set of development package could be extracted using NLP in the new version where as in the classic this was not an option.
3. Headless app creation - New version provides capabilities like connecting to github for maintaing code pipelines/version control, Fiori UI creation etc all with vibe coding unlike the classic version.
4. n8n workflows -  Integration for creating simple workflows in n8n is now possible in the new version

We can just provide the intent and everything else will be done by the tool.

For me the biggest difference is that Classic Joule Studio runs on your own BTP setup (Build Process Automation, entitlements, IAS), while the new one is fully SAP managed with no infrastructure to configure.

For me, the key difference is the experience. The new Joule Studio is much more business-outcome driven. You can start with an intent and quickly move toward a working solution, while governance and lifecycle management are built in. In contrast, Joule Studio Classic requires more manual configuration of skills and agents along the way.

One big difference is the approach to use intent-based development starting with natural language explaining the business requirement.  Joule Studio will then analyze this intent and not only develop an agent but build a full PRD which will describe the solution as well as business value and expected outcomes.  This document allows business inputs to stay connected to developers through the entire process.

One of the key differences between Joule Classic and the new Joule Studio comes down to who manages the infrastructure.

Classic had a managed builder, but a self-managed runtime. New Joule Studio flips that: it's fully SAP-managed out of the box, complete with audit logging and data privacy built in.
