Y10K problem

Greetings ABAP Gurus,

One of my clients asked me today to investigate the SAP Y10K problem and specifically the ABAP side of this.

They have been working at it for exactly a year now (more on the configuration side) and have been making good progress but deadlines are looming.

Does anyone know of any SAP Notes relating to the ABAP side of this?

To clarify: they are looking for solutions for when the standard SAP date field will no longer suffice, i.e. at midnight on 31.12.9999.

We are hoping to make use of user exits for this if SAP doesn't deliver a fix on time.

thank you

We have scheduled such a project, but it will start only next year (minus one day exactly) Nevertheless I would be interested if you could share the result of your investigations.

I suppose you checked such reference documents like Y10K problem or RFC 2550, can you share other references you come through ?

Regards,

Raymond

Hello Raymond,

Thanks for the links, I have seen them before but didn't have them handy

for future reference. It's good to see this problem is receiving the attention

it deserves. SAP has remained quiet on this but I'm expecting a Note soon.

Us veterans of the Y2K campaign know all too well how you can't leave these issues to

the last minute. Our efforts have gone mostly unappreciated because we did such a

thorough job. The world doesn't know how close they were to shortdumpmageddon.

regards

Rick
