Why only Character data type allowed for primary key fields?

Dear all,

Could anybody tell me why only Character data type allowed for primary key fields?

We also have MANDT (data type -CLNT) as the integral field in the primary key.

then is it the only exception ? ( primary key field with non-character data type )

Please Clarify...

Hi,

Who said Primary key can not be other data types than CHAR, you can create with any data type

to the best of my knowledge FLTP is an exception
