Hi One and All,
In the IDES R/3 system i use, in the sap data tables in any application component, there are default values..
In any enterprise that is implementing SAP..What data do these sap standard tables contain? Are they blank tables when the company first begins using SAP?
In the IDES..no changes can be made to those tables? In an enterprise is it the same ?
Duly awaiting for the replies..

hi,
As per Standard Tables in the Production server is concerned they are empty in the Begining. The Vendor company will fill its own data in those tables.
IDES contain some temporary data for training purpose.

Hi,
IDES is for study purpose. So they give some sample data.
While a company is buying SAP, especially production servers the DDIC tables should not have sample values. So tables with business data will be empty.
And dont think that we need to start everything new. All the companies have some previous database which stores the business data. We call it Legacy system. So they will do a migration from that Legacy system to SAP DB thorugh LSMW or BDC.
Hope this helps
Cheers

Hi,
It depends on many factors.
There are some tables which hold customization and system data. These will be populated by default and are required to run the system.
Master data tables and application tables are populated as per business requirements.
eg: Customer master KNA1: This has data related to customer belonging to ur company.
Application tableVBAK: will be populated only when u create the orders.
For setting up company level data like Company codes, Plants etc we will populate after installation as per business needs.
So u can't have one generic conclusion like on what basis or when these tables will be populated.
More over u can change any object in SAP provided u get access key to change standard objects given by SAP.
Thanks,
Vinod.

yes
why not if u create a vendor or cutomer in XK01 or XD01
what ever u filled data that data r updated in various table
jaus create one and test it..
u can get ur answer. remember there r several table
let say adrc table contain all the address of vendor and customer
if u create vendor that data is updated in LFA1,lfb1,adrc ... and so many table acording to the relation defined(primary key).

Hi Ranjith,
Yes. You r exactly correct. Not only customer data. Even if u make some customizations in SPRO as per ur business requirements those details will also be updated to corrosponding tables like as i told creation of plants, sales orgs etc.
More over generally we will go for LSMW/BDC for initial upload of data from current legacy system(Non SAP system) to newly installed SAP system. Even u can use these applications in later point also.
If the entries to be created are very few then we will directly create them. If it is huge then we will go for LSMW.
If it is moderate then use BDC/BAPI.
Get back in case u have any more doubts.
Thanks,
Vinod.

Hi Ranjith,
Generally the IDES system contains the genera(lBasic) data as this for the practice purpose but when a company is implementing SAP there is no need of this data so they them self upload their data using BDC,LSMW or BAPIs .
Best regards,
raam
