VERSION Compatibility

Hi,

I am working on SAP ABAP 4.7c . I am in the development of smartforms, interactive reports

and ALV reports . Now if i switch on to version 5.0 can i upgrade my development objects from

version 4.7c to 5.0.

will there be any compatibilty problem.if not Do i need to start from scratch.

Hi

No,I dont feel that you r going to face some big deifference between 4.7c and 5 version.

The objects thatyou have been developed in 4.7c will work perfectly in the 5 version and it is not needed any big upgradetion.

Ashok,

There is not much difference between 4.7 (WAS 6.20) and ECC 5.0 (WAS 6.40). So you should not have major issues

Hi,

Remember that any software upgrade (SAP or non SAP) will take care (or rather should) of backward compatibility. SAP surely does....developments in the newer versions may sometimes not work in older ones but the reverse case does not normally pose too many problems.
