Using SAP shortcuts

When opening an SAP shortcut from my desktop...

SAP says that, if a session is running, then it will directly start the task you want to run... (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/c0/732e42e1ef5633e10000000a155106/content.htm)

But when I open the shortcut, it pops up a password window everytime, no matter how many sessions are open at that time.

Why is this? Am I missing something or is it a bug?

I am using SAP 4.7, GUI version 620.

Thanks,

Juwin.

One suggestion, make sure that you have the latest patch for your SApgui, or better yet, get SAPgui 6.40 and the latest patch level.

You can download from service.sap.com

Hi ,

Have you checked the check box "Reuse Connection while launching shortcuts" while generating the shortcut.

Or just see that in notepad of shortcut file you have Reuse=1 .

If you do not have this set, you will be asked for password.

Let us know if you still have problems.

I am not able to see that checkbox on my GUI logon pad or shortcut settings. I know about the "reuse" option, but I am not able to check the checkbox since it is not available.

Hi Juwin,

How have you generated the shortcut.

If you have for example ".SAP" file for your shortcut, then right click and open it with notepad.

There you will see Reuse option ; set it to 1 or if not you can simply add a line in that notepad as "Reuse=1".

This is one option.

Otherwise when you are asked for password or if you get logon popup there you should right click(try right clicking several times on that popup unless you see two options ) after typeing your password. You will get tow items- Open and Edit. Choose Edit. There you will be seeing all the properties of shortcut. You will have two tabs- General tab and Option Tab. In Option tab you should be able to see check box for Reuse.

Hope this time you get this.

Priti
