Using IDES

Hi,

I would like to learn more about the functional side of SAP, FI/CO , and SD, and perhaps other modules.

I've been told that the online reference contains tutorials & information for all the functional areas, as well as exercises. I can not seem to find this information.

Could someone please tell the links, or any other information that may help?

Regard Sims

Hi Sims,

To some extent you will find the tutorials but not all of them.

Do a search on "tutorials" in help.sap.com you will find a few of them.

Alternatively you can look at the following links which might be of some help.

http://www.r3.duke.edu/stepbystep/index.html

http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/ ( do a search here for SD stuff)

Cheers

Hi,

the Doc in help.sap.com, seems to give you overviews and thats about it, but no real tutorials, where it shows you how to do transactions with the IDES system.

Is this as good as it gets?

Hi,

You may need to dig a little deeper in the SAP help. Remember its not easy to locate a document as the help is really extensive. Its a BIBLE for SAP and the best info is available here.

Going through SAP help is always the best as it gives the in and outs of all the options. If you go through otherwebsites the steps or process might be little different based on the company.

Some quick info for you.

1). Goto www.help.sap.com

2). On the top right hand corner click on the option "Search Documentation"

3). Select the radio button for the SAP version - say for example 4.7

4). Type in some key words in the search area. Say for example "Material Master creation" or "Output configuration"

5). Once the List comes up on the right hand side you will have few options like Function, Procedure, Concepts etc. Select the PROCEDURE link

6). This will give you step by step information onn how to do a transaction or customizing.

Need to put in some effort to make things work for us

Cheers

Hi,

I just felt , that because IDES is already there and setup, there would be documentation on how it is set up, and then use that data to do additional transactions, such as sales orders etc.. and see the results in other areas as well ie Accounts Receivable, GL etc..

But it does not seem to do this, or I'm looking in the wrong place?
