user profile , roles

Hi Experts,

I am new to user profiles or roles!!!

I have a requirement in which i have set of 30 users. These users have different accesses to some fields like (Plant , Sales org., Purch Org., etc.). I want to specify these field and field values in user profile or role(i m not sure). So that in program i can check these value for each user and do calculation accordingly.

Please tell me how to use user roles or profile to achieve this functionality?? what things i have to specify basis guys and how can i check it in abap program.

If all your users should execute the same functionalities but to a different extent then you should create a <b>template or master role</b> followed by <b>derived roles</b> for the users.

Please note that SAP provides us already with quite extensive reporting possibilities using transaction <b>SUIM</b>. Most likely you will find a transaction there which fits your requirements or may be the basis for your own specific report.
