Updating standard database tables

How do we update standard databae tables like MDKP, MARC, MDMA while developing a cusom BAPI.

Is it through UPDATE & MODIFY statement. i think we can do this by calling transaction since we should not call Call Transaction statement inside BAPI..

Please advice.

YOu need to call the FM BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT to update the data while working on BAPIs

hi all,

Is it advisable to update standard databse tables using UPDATE & MODIFY , particulary when we have large voumes of data!! or is there any other means to achieve this.

if you dont have any BAPI or FM you can use LOCK and UNLOCK concept and do the update or modify...

Hi,

To sum it all use enque, deque to lock only the single record you are updating and then use update.
