I think Unicode has come into effect from version 47 & upward..

Unicode has come in to effect from 4.7 onwards only as Suresh Said...

Hi,

SAP R/3 Enterprise Extension set 2.00 is the first major release to support a unicode installation or conversion (see SAP note 79991). There are options for SAP R/3 Enterprise Extension set 1.10, please see SAP Note 548016 and 540911.
