Technical Upgrade

Hi,

We are planning to do Technical upgrade for all systems. This technical upgrade places newer versions of

AIX server patches, DB2 database Fix packs, SAP kernel executables and SAP application Support Packages.

Can anyone please let me know what these patches mean and in which transactions i can see them?

If you choose Menu System->Status you will see a section "SAP System Data" and a small pushbutton (Magnifying glass), if you hit that, you will see 2 tabs.

Can you please give me an overview of why they install these patches? are they security patches? and if they had installed these patches before user training, is this going to affect?

Patches are what they mean, literally. They patch an existing hole in the system, whether it is logic bug, or missing functionality or a security risk or added functionality. Even though a technical upgrade should not have any impact on user training, sometimes, a patch, while fixing something may break something else. Other than that you should be ok.

No, that is different from your SAP upgrades. You have to refer to the corresponding software provider tools for that.
