Hi Gurus!
I have created a new index in the table VBAK in SBX but I get an information message under it which says "Index does not exist in database system ORACLE". I followed the steps but somehow it didnt create an index in the database.
Could anyone tell me why is it so that the index is not created ?
Thanks

hi
Go to SE11 enter the table name and click on indexes
a subscreen(Indexes for table) appears in that click on Create button
it will aks for the index name , enter the index name and click on tick mark
then in the Dict : Maintain Index screen enter the fields which u want under the
fieldname.
The Order in which u place the fields in the index is very important, it must
in the same order of the database table.
ask your BASIS administrators to update the database statistics for table once the index has been created so that SAP takes the index appropriately.
