I have a table that I access using SE16 today. I would like to expose the contents of this table as a web service. Running on ECC system, so wondering what options I have.

I am looking for an out of the box capability with out needing to write code. Just like the way you can web service enable a bapi/rfm.

you can create a web service using the SAP standard wizard for a RFC Function RFC_READ_TABLE.

Hi Kiran,

The contents of tables passed into web services via arrays of java objects. The web services are based on Java classes.

For example, define a simple Java object called PurchaseOrder - give it a couple of attributes - perhaps purchase order, purchase group.

Then define a class with a method that sends or receives an array of the object - i.e. purchaseOrder[]

The web services based on this class / method work fine in VC.

Sourabh, I am not interested in writing any ABAP/Java code to create a webservice. And my question is not on how I consumer it.

J@y, I am trying to understand what you provided as a potential solution. I went to SE80 and searched for the RFC you are suggesting "RFC_READ_TABLE", but haven't found it. Can you please expand on what you meant by the wizard.

To create a Web service from a function group or function module, you can call the 
Creation Wizard from the Function Builder (SE37). Choose the function module, display it, 
and then choose Utilities ® More Utilities ® Create Web Service ® From the Function Moduleor 
From the Function Group.

Security for this web service would be very important, check with your Basis and security team if you cannot access the service from other world/out of SAP.

Let me make sure I understand your solution. Is this your solution?

1) Write a function module to extract Table info

2) Create a web service for that rfm

Is this right?

the Function module I gave before is already done by SAP.. you just need to run the wizard.. and create a web service...

when you execute the web service you need to provide the input parameters and the output can be accessed in the target system.
