SQL STUFF with XML

I am using SQL STUFF with XML and Crystal Reports is truncating the result. This is no problem if I use different software to bring back the query - the result does not get truncated. I have checked "Can Grow" but that does not solve the problem. Does anyone know of a way to solve this problem.
