Smartforms activation taking long time

Hello Forum,

We have installed a new development server for our SAP landscape.

We are a company having already implemented SAP for last 3 years and working successfully with it.

We have ported smartforms from Existing SAP installation to new SAP installation.

But the problem is that the smartforms that usually take around 2 minutes max. in the existing server, are taking very long time (approx. 2 hours) for just activating after each change in the new installation.

Request to suggest what parameters I have to check to overcome this problem.

Best Regards,

Vishal Kadia

Hello Forum,

Thanks for your valuable inputs. I had escalated this call to SAP Support also.

They suggested me to update Database statistics. I have followed that and my problem is resolved now.

I am closing this thread. Again thanks for your inputs.

Hi,

I Am not sure what ur problem, but u can do few things like

1)Check for some lock entry is there or not in SM12 tcode after exit from Smartforms.

If exist u can, clear the lock entries & then activate

2)Check syntax also, like ctrl+F2 for some run time syntax check.

Try It.

Thanks

Gourav.

hi vishal,

your smartform might be slow because it will have to regenerate the code each time for activation.

https://scn.sap.com/thread/256363https://scn.sap.com/thread/329026

or

say for eg (actually an update) your new system just executes all its contents first time

Thanks

Think about running the SE30 transaction against the smartforms transaction. Run it with full trace enabled. When the martforms transaction starts, just put in your name, and activate. this will create a trace file for the activation without a lot of extra stuff in it.

look over this result. i have noticed the trace shows roughly 70% database time to 30% abap time. THis could mean that there is a table or something in your new DEV that needs an index created, or has a tablespace issue, or something. The number should jump out at you when you look at the trace data.

When i did this, my trace file is only about 830 KB in size, and it activates in about 4 seconds. If your trace file is MUCH larger, chances are something else is running during the activation, and you can look for that in the trace as well.

just an idea
