Short dump - Maintenance Generator

i am getting an error like :

<b>SAPGUI 640

SAP System Message :

Work processor re-started, session terminated.</b>

i created a Table Maintenance Generator. Earlier it was working fine but after 4-5 five days i m not able to maintain this. everytime when i do ny operation with this table its giving me the short dump. its even not allowing me to change or delete. everything is activated.

Please put some light upon this, if anybody knows the solution.

HAve you changed table design in between these 4-5 days?

Pls check if the table design is not changed including field lengths.

That can be main reason. Pls delete table maintenance and recreate. This problem will not occur. Also make sure to recreate table maintenance as and when you change design of the table.

Hello Ravi,

These kind of problems where you get a front-end message can be quite tricky to solve. But you can try one option -

1. Go to transaction SM21.

2. For your user-ID get all the problems and warnings.

3. Try to analyze what's going wrong.

4. If you are still unable to figure it out, get back to SDN with what you have found in SM21.

did u add any new fileds to that table or delete any fileds if it happens u have recreate the table maintenance .

it this do this and let me know . for futher help.

hi ravi ,

1. the case might be a change in the field or data

element in the table schema.

2. a shift in the hierarchry of the table fields .

3. allocation of primary key to the table structure after the table maintenance is created .

4. assignment of function group to the table maintenance generator .

these are the four scenarios which may have gone but we do not know .

so best option is to remove the function group , reassign it and generate the maintenace generator .

assign a new function group and from sm30 maintain it .

Thanks for the immediate reply.

i didn't change nything in the table. Ok i am agree to delete this function group. but m not able to del/change this from se54. its again giving me short dump.

ou are getting dump because associated program for table maintenance is not found as function group does not exist.

If it is not allowing to delete the table maintenance, if there is no data in the table, could it be possible to recreate the table and then recreate the table maintenance?

hi ravi,

just do this .

-

Goto table in se11.

Go in change mode .

From utilities goto utilities -

---

>table maintenance generator.

(generate table maintenance dialog:generate envoronment)

This will give u a screen .

In that select change mode .

This will pop up a sub-screen with various check boxes .

In that list select with

1. checkbox create maintenance screen

2.checkbox new field/sec.table in structure .

And at the bottom say Expert mode .

Enabling this will give u another subscreen saying recreate generation elements :expert mode .

Now select all (buttons ) select all the checkboxes and say enter i.e tick box at the bottom .

This will do the recreation screen .

And now check the screen of ur table with Tcode.

hi ravi,

before that goto t-code se14 give the table name and say enter .

below at the bottom say activate and adjust data base .

or from se11 itself utilities ---databaseutility will lead u to the same position .

first do this .

next thing do the steps which i told u in my prev post.

check in sm30 u have authorization group as &NC& and function group also ..
