Short Dump error in Structure mofifcation

Hi Abapers,

  Could you please tell me why the updated or modified structure in SE 11  goes to short dump? because i got a requirement to add a field in the structure but the user says the actual configuration goes to short dump.what will be the exact reason.

Hi,

You might have used same structure in reports or Fm.Please check "WHERE USED LIST" option for that structure. Do needfull changes to avoid any dump

But we are only responsible to SE11 works but we are not authorised to excute any other programs so i may be assigned to someother peoples.my exact point is,Will it goes to short dump for structures in SE11 which are particular to DDIC.

I think your table is inactive/Partially active, where you have added the structure/Field, check this once.

Please can you provide some more information! What exactly is the dump message? Better still post some screenshots here.

Compiling any ddic structure (or importing) during execution of transactions or jobs which are currentling using it, will trigger many dumps with errors similar to SAPSQL_WA_TOO_SMALL or SAPSQL_SELECT_DBTAB_CHANGED.  The structures defined in current running program no longer conform to ddic definition, so system dumps.

Hi,

so you have 2 options to avoid the dump after changing the structure,

1. you have to check "WHERE USED LIST" where is this structurehas been used, so if this structure has been used in Program ZZZ, and there is field name,  but you have deleted this field or you have changed it,, you will get dump.

2- you can use append structureto add new field without any modification.
