Hi. thank you for your answer!
I did follow the that post bur the problems still there. If is an authorization problem do you who i got to ask for that permission? My co workers didnt have problems at all and I assume we have the same permissions.

Hi alvaro_imaz3

i agree, it's not my best answer but to be safe, check with transaction SU01D your userid against one on of your co workers
meanwhile i'm reasearching which ports you need open to run screen painter...

Hi alvaro_imaz3
to rule out the userID settings, can you ask one of your colleagues to login with their credentials on your ubuntu 20.04 machine?

I just try with a college's credentials and it was just the same, looks like i dont have the graphical interface installed or something like that.

Ubuntu with Windows VM and SAP GUI for Windows? Or SAP GUI for Java? or SAP GUI for HTML?
Could you describe the symptom precisely or is it really nothing at all, pressing the Layout button has absolutely no effect and you immediately get the control back? ("it does nothing")

The graphical editor is not available in the Java distribution. See 454939 - SAP GUI for Java functional scope compared to SAP GUI for Windows.

oh, thats a problem. I cant see that link because im not an S user.

What is fun is that I have the graphical editor with my SAP GUI for Windows, but I switched a few years ago to the alphanumeric editor because it was faster... 😉

sandra.rossi I like the "ABAPosaurus" but nope, I am a Basisaurus with passion for ramifications 😉 nice to e-meet you 🙂

alvaro_imaz3 The note 454939 - SAP GUI for Java functional scope compared to SAP GUI for Windows. just says "graphical editor is not available" (in the Java distribution). Use the alphanumeric editor or install a Windows VM on your Ubuntu system.

Hello,
Faced a similar issue once, it was resolved as below:
When you open the graphical editor. Please take a new session and execute su53. Take a screenshot and send it to the security/basis team.If there are any missing authorization, they can provide it to you.
Regards,
Juby
