Scheduling agreement?

Hi,

I was going through the sample technical specifications provided in www.saptechnical.com. The object is adding delivery address to the scheduling agreement. Though I could complete the object as per the specifications (since the transaction code and the procedure to do it is provided there), I did not understand what a scheduling agreement is?

Could any one provide me with more inputs on this?
