I have a question on this.
In what scenerios do we use SAPLinks?
When I can transport the onjects from one system to another why do we need to use this?
Thanks,
Archana.

Basically it was built to allow developers to share coding without the need for the transport systems, because most developers would not want to have to go to their basis person to have the transport import manually. If saplink is installed, you can import the custom objects into your system yourself. For example, lets say that someone posts a blog on a particular subject here on SDN, and this person wants to share the code, he can do so via SAPlink format, which makes it easy for anyone to import his code into their system, and use. Its really about community, and sharing code.
