This Function Module is slowing down my interface. I've used this many times before without an issue.

Anybody know what may be going on?

Yes, this function will cause you program to run much slower especially if you are calling it in a loop and doing it thousands of times. In these cases, you should only do it every 500 records or so. This will speed up the execution of the program.

Even there are some OSS notes availabe to rectify this known issue. You can check in the service site and check 48034 and 0000439203 for ur quick reference.
