This function works within one client on our system but not

in another.

Why would the client make a difference?

Well, SAPGUI is the frontend. The thing which is installed on your client.

If those SAPGUI´s on both of your clients have another patch state, this might just be the problem.

I don't think that the client does make a difference. What do you mean that "It doesn't work".

Check parameter SIN (Progress indicator on/off) in user profile.
