SAP Script Development ( Merlin )

Dear All,

We can see the ID of any SAP Screen or field by Switching On SAP Script Development.

The "Merlin" which comes on Screen, gives an option to copy ID and then we can see the SAP Screen / Field / Tab... etc ID.

Just I wanted to know, how does this "Merlin" works and from where does "Merlin" gets this Id.

Debugging is also not working, while trying to figure out this stuff.

Any one having any idea about this, please help.

But I am talking about SAP Field ID, Screen ID, Tab ID......... not the SAP User ID.

If you have any idea about SAP Field ID, Screen ID, Tab ID..... etc, please help.

Astonishing! I´m developing forms for quite some years now, but i never stumbled upon any merlin... may you enlighten me?

Dear Florian,

I am developing an application which needs some unique ID to identify SAP Screens and Fields.

I got this ID as to be unique, thats why I need it.

Please help with some idea to trace it.

Infact I wanted to know,, how is this Id formed..??

Wild guess, "Merlin" might stand for magician's hat or magic wand or any other symbol involving a magician...is there anything like this in forms development?
