SAP GUI LOGON ISSUE

Greeting Gurus,

Whilst trying some BASIS general transactions with user logon settings, which I don’t remember, now it does not allow me to log on using my SAP user id

I get a message “Log on with a dialog user”

Could you please explain why I have this problem and whats the solution.

It looks like your user is defined as a background user hence you cannot logon through SAPGUI, because for that you need a dialog user. Just change your user to be a dialog user instead of background. That should solve the problem.

Thanks for your reply Michael, i am the user i cant log in, could you tell me how to change it from background to Dialog and whats the difference between a dialog and background user. Thanks

To change the user type, please see my reply above for the transaction SU01.

Hi Stefan,

that link was informative, i would ask the system administrator to change my account as dialog using SU01, as i cant log into the system.

Hi,

go to transaction SU01 and check the value User Type in the tab Logon data

The value should be Dialog.
