Hi,
I have taken AWS cloud instance of AS ABAP incl. BW 7.4 SP8 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP8. I have also installed SAP HANA Studio. I have also added all info in SAP GUI.
In ETC/HOST, I have tried to enter below entries and connect to SAP but every time it says connection is not possible. Can you please suggest what I need to do to access it with the help of SAP GUI and HANA Studio
XX.XXX.XXX.XX wdflbmd13528 wdflbmd13528.ec2.internal
XX.XXX.XXX.XX wdflbmd13528.dhcp.ec2.internal
XX.XXX.XXX.XX wdflbmd13528.ec2.internal

Hi,
have you tried to connect with SAP GUI by just using the IP Address ?
Cheers

Hi Jens Weiler ,
I have tried it via initializing Cloud Instance and SAP GUI using IP address, it was not connecting with this also then I have read the below info in start up document
Enter the following lines in the hosts file and save it:
<IP Address> wdflbmd13528.dhcp.<Domain Name>
<IP Address> wdflbmd13528.<Domain Name>
then I have added these files in etc/hosts file.

Hi Ankesh,
did you wait one hour before connecting to the system ? Could you please try to connect using SSH to see if the system is up at least on OS level ?
Thanks a lot
Jens

Hi Jens,
I did not wait one hour before connecting to system as the AWS service is charging on hourly basis and there is no where mention that we have to wait before trying the connection.
I have checked in remote system, it is working fine.
What is SSH and what are the steps to connect to SSH to check?

Ankesh

Hi Ankesh,
you might use a tool like putty (see www.putty.org), that allows you to go via ssh to your AWS instance. So you just provide the IP address of your system, the username is root and the ssh key (that you can generate from the pem file attached to your instance on the CAL).

Hi Jasmin Gruschke ,
I have few questions:-
1) Do i use putty by activating Cloud instance?
2) IP address of your system means IP of my Laptop or Hana Cloud Instance SAP Server IP.
I have generated PPK file from PEM which I got from CAL

Hi Ankesh,
things get confusing here :-).
Okay, let's do the following:
In the CAL you have you system, which (I assume shows a green status icon, menaning it's up and running). If you go to your system, you see two IP addresses, one for the frontend, one for the backend.
Use the backend IP address and try to connect to that IP or ping it. This test shows you, whether the system is available, which is the first thing you can check (if the system is not there at all, neither HANA nor ABAP systems can be available).
If you successfully pinged the system, you can go via an SSH client (like putty) and connect to the system. Once there, you can check the list of processes whether the HANA works and the ABAP is up and running.
I know this is kind of complicated, so if you like, just drop me a mail ([email protected]) with the IP address.
Cheers,
Jasmin
BTW: Make sure that you maintained all the port information (see chapter 9.2.2 of https://caldocs.hana.ondemand.com/caldocs/help/Getting_Started_Guide_ABAP_74_SP8_HANA_SP8_DevEdition...)
