Hi All,

I want to know what exactly rollout means??

What role does an ABAPer have to play in that??

Do you need to have some functional knowledge to work in a rollout project??

Hi,

there exist different types of projects in SAP like impleamentation, rollout, upgaradation, support .

iplementation mean , developing the objects from scratch to any country of the glbal business. Supppose say FORD company has implemented SAP in 2001 in USA, before 2001 there is no SAP in FORD.

Rollout mean, SAp is alreday implemenetd in the business but only in some particular countries, Now the Business wants the sap to be implemented to other countries where the business runs.

For example, in 2001 , FORD implemented SAP to USA business, now the company wants the SAP to be implemenetd in INDIA, this is called Rollout to INDIA.

The role of the ABAP er is same as is in the implemaenation project and Functional knowledge same as in Implemnetation.

One more doubt is, will we have some configurations to be made or is it that we have to develop some reports??

Hi ,

some reports/objects may be used as it is without any changes whereas for some , ther may need to add some additional functionality and some reports from scartch should be developed as per the requirement.

For example, in USA there may be 100 plants and 8 Warehouses for FORD business.

Wheras in INDAI there may be 15 plants and 4 warehouses, so the reports/ obkects must be changed where these Plants and warehouses are involved.
