what is the difference between RFC and IDOC
RFC--> remotely updating the data
IDOC---> IDOC also updating data remotely

Hi,
RFC will be used to connect the external systems & IDoc is a container to carry the data from SAP to outer world or from outside to SAP.

Somewhat simplified you can say that
- RFC describes the (remote) connection between systems and
- IDOC describes a specific message format that is transferred between systems
For example, if you have an <b>EBP </b>(<i>Enterprise Buyer Professional</i>) system and create a purchase order this order is sent as Idoc via RFC to a R/3 backend system.
