my requirement is as follow:

i need to enter a date in the selection screen which is to be initialized to previous day of the execution date and i need to calculate number of days from the 1st day of the month to given date which i entered in the selection screen

Moderator message - Welcome to SCN. Unfortunately, this forum is not a place to learn ABAP. I suggest that you get one of the good ABAP books that are out there and maybe join an internet forum that caters to beginners - post locked And please use a descriptive subject for your posts.
