Replicating master data from Production to Development system!

Former Member

Hi all,

We wish to replicate master data from R/3 PRD system to our R/3 Development system. The reason is that missing master data impedes the testing speed and quality that can be done in the unit test environment.

We would like to do this 2x a year by means of a standard procedure.

What are the options(tech. solutions) to achieve this and which one is the most suitable?

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,

Vedad Handzo

Hi Thomas,

TDMS solution would add extra costs to our plans. This would require necessary approvals and therefore a larger scope than we defined from the outset. Furthermore, the added costs coming from a paid solution could kill the business case for this initiative.

What standard solutions does SAP offer within R3 system that is already included in our licence (and therefore free of charge) to get a specific set of our master data from PRD to DEV?

Thanks.

Already included is data distribution via ALE using IDocs, please find available information, a starting point is:

Some SAP modules offer simple download/upload techniques like FS15/FS16 for G/L accounts, it's a matter of which data exactly should be transferred. LSMW offers a lot of predefined migration objects, the input data could come from simple SE16 downloads from production.

Many ways, different complexity and robustness.

Thanks a lot Madhu. If you happen to have a link to a good manual for setting this up, I would be most thankful.

Kind regards,
